Election

Let me include a quote from the "little red book": "If you have enjoyed spiritual blessings it is because you are one of God's elect." Some view the doctrine of election as harsh and unfair. When viewed correctly, it is a wonderful, uplifting doctrine that gives God 100% of the glory and credit for salvation. Another quote from the book is "God was under no obligation whatsoever to provide salvation to anyone." That might be hard for us to swallow, but if we believe in total depravity as taught in the Bible, we must arrive at that conclusion. That God would choose anybody, yea, even, us, is something in which to rejoice.

A paraphrase from one of Eld. David Pyles's sermons is that if God knew who the "choosers" and "losers" would be when brought into existence, He knew who the "choosers" and "losers" would be if brought into existence. Unconditional election is the unavoidable conclusion. Everybody by nature is a "loser," but God elected (chose) a people for His own.
